Negativity – is it making you ill?

We all have bad days, when nothing seems to be going right, or we are just not feeling ourselves. But – is constantly talking and complaining about it making us sick? What if we start the day by having negative emotions and voicing them constantly is stopping us from having one nice thought? Can negativity re-programme our brain and stop us from having positive thoughts in the first place? What do these negative thoughts then do to our body? Think about this quote for a minute: “Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution.”

This is so true. Negativity can pull you down and everyone around you, too. If you notice yourself not getting better, not being able to have positive thoughts and believing in positive things, then, maybe it's time to get some help. If you are constantly putting yourself and your feelings down, if you are just seeing everything that's wrong in your life, even if things are going well and you just can't find anything positive to say about it, or you will find the one negative aspect and dwell on it – then it's definitely time to find someone to help you.

Negative thoughts also influence our body. If we are constantly telling ourselves that we are not feeling well, that we are ill, that everything is going wrong, then of course it will. Our body is trying to please us and starts developing symptoms to go with our feelings. This can start at feeling slightly unwell and develop into a really serious illness. It's called a “self fulfilling prophecy”.

On the other hand, if we start the day with positive feelings, it can only get better. This is also a self fulfilling prophecy – the other side of the coin.

I do not mean to completely block out any negative emotions at all. That would be deluding yourself. Nothing is always just good – life isn't black and white. Life is colour, sometimes light and sometimes dark. When it gets dark, take a look at yourself and see what the problem is – as objective as possible. If you cannot do this on your own, get outside help, a good friend, parents, sometimes even strangers can point you in the right direction. You just have to listen and do not take it personally. Once you know the root of the problem you can change it. You have then worked through it – and that's also positive! This way you turn your problem, which you until now have perceived as negative, into an opportunity!!!

Problems are not bad or terrible, they are just an indication which area in our life needs work. So, go on, find problems, solve them and grow into a positive, healthy, wonderful, loving, kind, caring and beautiful person! I believe in you!
