A lunar year, that’s 12 moon cycles of 28 days each, consists of 354 days. Thus 12 days are missing to make up our 365 day solar year. These 12 days are called the 12 Sacred Nights, as they are outside of the year and with that mystical and magical. The veil to the otherworld is thin and it’s a powerful time for divination and introspection. Old patterns are being broken up so that new ones can begin. In these nights, the Nature Spirits set forth to alter and newly weave the powers that be.
These Sacred Nights are counted from midnight to midnight and start with the Winter Solstice, as this is the day the Sun stands still in the sky and the longest night of the year. It seems as though the darkness has triumphed over the light. But it is the turning point, because from this point forward the light penetrates deep into the darkness and awakens the sleeping seed of light in all and everything.
It is a time to take stock, reflect on our path and to re-align ourselves. It is a time for cleansing, clearing, expelling and smudging. It is a time for divination, speaking to our ancestors, guides and angels and listening to our intuition and dreams. It is a time to re-connect with our roots, with our great Mother Earth. She who gives us life and nurtures and sustains us. It is a great time to connect to the loving and gentle Universe, the Oneness, and savour its loving embrace. Here we can find peace and a new path of Love, on which we can walk in unison with our true self. Now we can co-create our future in Love and Peace.
